Bristol Airport Drop-Off & Pick-Up Charges 2026 (And How to Pay £0)

Bristol Airport changed its drop-off and pick-up tariffs on 5 January 2026. Dropping at the terminal is now among the most expensive in the UK, but there is still a way to drop off and pick up for free if you know where to go. This guide covers every zone, every charge, and the rules that catch drivers out.

From 5 January 2026, the terminal-side Drop & Go zone costs £8.50 for the first 10 minutes and rises steeply after that. The only free option is the Waiting Zone at the Car Rental Centre (BS48 3DW), free for up to one hour.

At £8.50 for 10 minutes, kerbside drop-off works out at about 85p per minute. There is no free drop-off directly outside the terminal, so picking the right zone for your situation is what saves money.

How much is drop-off at Bristol Airport in 2026?

Drop & Go (Express Drop Off & Pick Up) sits at the Transport Interchange, a 3-5 minute covered walk to the terminal. You must stay with your vehicle, there is a 2.5 m height limit, and the maximum stay is 2 hours. Payment is cashless by ANPR at the exit.

Time in Drop & Go Charge (from 5 Jan 2026)
Up to 10 minutes£8.50
10-20 minutes£10.50
20-40 minutes£13
Up to 60 minutes£30
Maximum stay2 hours

Blue Badge holders get up to 40 minutes in Drop & Go for £8.50 - scan the badge at the exit barrier.

Short Stay & Pick-Up tariff

Use Short Stay if you want to leave the car and meet someone in Arrivals.

Time in Short Stay Charge (from 5 Jan 2026)
Up to 15 minutes£8.50
15-30 minutes£10.50
4-12 hours£45
Up to 24 hours£65

Minibus & over-height vehicles

Vehicles over 2.5 m or up to 16 seats use a dedicated car park: £8.50 for up to 5 minutes and £10.50 for 5-20 minutes.

Is there free drop-off at Bristol Airport?

Yes - the free Waiting Zone at the Car Rental Centre (postcode BS48 3DW) is free for up to one hour. A wheelchair-accessible shuttle runs to the terminal every 15 minutes between 06:00 and midnight via a covered bridge. Stay 1-2 hours and it is a flat £10; beyond two hours it is £20 per extra hour. There are toilets, bins and two Blue Badge bays, and the airport is doubling capacity in 2026.

How do I drop off or pick up for free?

Follow these steps to use the Waiting Zone without getting caught out.

  1. Follow signs for Silver Zone / Car Rental Centre, not the terminal loop. Use postcode BS48 3DW.
  2. Park in the free Waiting Zone - you have up to one hour at no charge.
  3. Your passenger takes the free shuttle to the terminal (or you ride together to see them off).
  4. For pick-ups, wait here until your passenger has their bags, then collect them from the shuttle stop.
  5. Leave within the hour to pay nothing. Do not re-enter within 30 minutes, or you risk an automatic PCN.

Two traps to avoid. 1) The 30-minute no-return rule - re-entering too soon triggers an automatic Penalty Charge Notice, so plan a single timed visit. 2) The roads around the terminal are Red Routes (double red lines) where stopping is prohibited and enforced - never pull over to wait.

Why did Bristol Airport's drop-off charges go up?

The airport links the 2026 rise to a business-rates bill set to more than double, and to a push toward sustainable transport. It opened a £60 million Public Transport Interchange in July 2025 and is rolling out 21 electric buses, with the A1 Bristol Flyer running as often as every eight minutes during the day. Drop-off generates four vehicle movements per trip versus two for public transport, which is why the airport is steering drivers toward buses and the Waiting Zone.
